Junagarh (Kalahandi): In a shocking incident, a man allegedly attempted suicide after killing his wife at Sanyasikundamal village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Pramod Chandan, a resident of the same village.
According to reports, Pramod allegedly killed his wife and disposed of the body by throwing it into a nearby canal. He later attempted to end his life by consuming poison. He was subsequently rushed to the Junagarh Community Health Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment and is stated to be in critical condition.
On being informed, the Junagarh police, along with fire services personnel, reached the spot and launched a search operation and investigation into the incident.
However, the body of the deceased has not yet been recovered from the canal.
Police said further details are awaited as the investigation is underway.
