Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a nowcast yellow warning at 4.00 PM, cautioning residents about imminent light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning activity across several districts of Odisha over the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, districts likely to be affected include Mayurbhanj district, Balasore district, Jajpur district, Dhenkanal district, Keonjhar district, Cuttack district, Angul district, Deogarh district, Sundergarh district, Sambalpur district, Jharsuguda district and Bargarh district.
The weather office has forecast gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph, accompanied by lightning strikes at one or two places in these districts.
Authorities have advised people to remain alert, keep a close watch on rapidly changing weather conditions, and be prepared to move to safer locations if necessary to avoid lightning-related risks.
The yellow alert indicates the need for awareness and precaution, especially for those engaged in outdoor activities.
