Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Warning for isolated districts in Odisha, alerting residents to take action as thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) are likely to hit Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
A Yellow Warning has been issued for several other districts, including Sundergarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Rayagada, where thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are expected. Another Yellow Warning covers districts like Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Puri, where similar weather conditions with winds (30-40 kmph) are predicted.
The thunderstorm activity has led to a drop in day temperatures across the state, with only a few places recording temperatures above 35°C. The forecast for Bhubaneswar indicates a partly cloudy sky with possible rain or thunderstorms, and temperatures ranging between 26°C and 35°C.
Meanwhile, squally weather with winds reaching 60-70 kmph is expected along the North Odisha Coast on March 31, 2026, making sea conditions rough to very rough.
