Sonepur: In a major crackdown, Sonepur police seized over 1.5 quintals of ganja and arrested five people including two women in separate raids at Baghlapur and Budharaja Chowk on Thursday.
According to reports, a truck was intercepted at Baghalapur under Biramaharajpur police station, while an Alto car was stopped at Budharaja Chowk.
In the first operation, car occupants, including two women and a driver, were arrested with 30 packets of ganja from a suitcase inside the vehicle at Baghalpur.
In a separate operation, authorities intercepted a Tata Ace vehicle, discovering a sophisticated concealed compartment beneath the vehicle’s deck specifically designed for smuggling. The search yielded 130 packets of ganja, leading to the arrest of two persons involved in the illicit transport.
The raids resulted in seizure of over 1.5 quintals of ganja, two vehicles, and arrest of five people. Police are investigating the smuggling network, including the consignment’s origin and destination.
