Malkangiri: Three classmates of a Class 9 girl student at a residential school in Malkangiri district intervened in time to save her life after she allegedly attempted suicide, reportedly unable to endure torture by the headmaster, officials said.
The incident has been reported from Badabel Residential Sevashram School in Malkangiri district, where several students have levelled serious allegations against the headmaster, accusing him of physical assault, abusive language, and misconduct.
According to the complaint, the Class 9 student allegedly attempted to take her own life following repeated harassment. However, her classmates noticed the situation and rescued her before any fatal outcome.
Subsequently, four girl students from Badabel approached the Malkangiri District Collector, Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke, seeking justice and action against the accused headmaster.
Confirming receipt of the complaint, Additional Welfare Officer Sumant Kumar Majhi said that a detailed inquiry will be conducted into the allegations. “Strict action will be taken against those found guilty after verification of facts,” he said.
