Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast Yellow Warning for several districts in Odisha, cautioning residents about possible light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain over the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, the warning was issued at 8:55 PM on Friday, covering districts including Bhadrak district, Keonjhar district, Mayurbhanj district, Kalahandi district, Malkangiri district, Nabarangpur district, Koraput district and Rayagada district.
“Light thunderstorm with lightning or light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over these districts,” the weather office said in its bulletin.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert and closely monitor weather conditions for any sudden deterioration. Residents have been urged to be prepared to move to safer locations in order to avoid lightning strikes.
