Odisha In Grip Of Scorching Heat; Talcher Hottest At 40.2°C

Bhubaneswar: Intense heatwave continued to grip Odisha on Saturday as several places recorded temperatures above 35°C, turning the state into a virtual cauldron.

Talcher emerged as the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 40.2°C, closely followed by Jharsuguda and Paralakhemundi, both recording 40.0°C.Other notable high temperatures include: Angul 39.7°C, Baripada 39.0°C, Sundargarh 39.0°C, Hirakud 39.0°C, Bargarh 39.0°C, Bhadrak 39.3°C, Bhubaneswar 38.8°C, Chandbali 38.8°C, Cuttack 37.8°C, and Sambalpur 38.4°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued hot and humid conditions across many districts in the coming days. People, especially outdoor workers, children, and the elderly, have been advised to take necessary precautions, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and stay hydrated.

The IMD has forecasted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati & Rayagada. 2) in 24 hours.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
