Bhubaneswar: The inventory of gems and jewellery at Shree Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar is set to be completed ahead of the annual Snana Yatra, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Wednesday. The third phase of the exercise is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026.
“The second phase of the Ratna Bhandar inventory will take place over four days, from April 8 to April 11, followed by another phase on April 13. In total, the April schedule will cover 10–12 days. Subsequent phases are planned for May and June, with the aim of completing the entire process before the Snana Yatra (Deva Snana Purnima), the major bathing festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra,” the minister told the media.
Minister Harichandan added that technology is being used to expedite the verification process.
“We are cross-checking current records with the 1978 audit data and digitally photographing each item. Following this, we will decide on long-term preservation methods. Our goal is to complete the inventory by the Snana Yatra,” he said.
