Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, the body of a minor girl was recovered from a toilet behind her maternal uncle’s house at Lakhmanapalli village under Jagannath Prasad police station in Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Archana, a minor girl from Kanakuturu village under Buguda block. She had come to her maternal uncle Ganesh Maharana’s house. She suddenly went missing on Wednesday morning. After frantic searches by the family, a complaint was filed at the police station. Later that night, Archana’s body was found inside a toilet located around 20 metres behind the uncle’s house.
Upon being infomed, Bhanjanagar police along with the Sub-Divisional Police Officer reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the case. Police said strangulation marks were visible on her neck and the body was wrapped in a saree, strongly suggesting she was murdered.
The girl’s maternal aunt is suspected to be involved in the crime. It is suspected that her maternal aunt might have strangled and murdered her niece for some reason.
The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination, which will be conducted today.
