Nirakarpur Infant Theft Case: Man Lodges Fake Theft Complaint After Abducting His Own Baby

Bhubaneswar: A major twist has emerged in the case of the alleged theft of a four-month-old infant boy from Nirakarpur Railway Station in Khordha district.

The child’s father, who had lodged the complaint as the victim, has been identified as the main conspirator behind the theft and abduction of his own son.

Nirakarpur Government Railway Police (GRP) have successfully rescued the abducted infant from Kalamatia village under Ranpur police station in Nayagarh district late on Tuesday night.

According to police, the infant’s father, Prashant Kumar Pradhan, along with his second wife, had claimed that their four-month-old baby was stolen from the station platform while they were asleep. However, investigation revealed that Prashant himself took the child from the station and later handed him over to his first wife at his ancestral home in Kalamatia village.

During investigation, it came to the fore that Prashant is already married and has a wife at his paternal house. He had married his sister-in-law (his first wife’s younger sister) as his second wife, and the four-month-old infant was born from this second relationship. The Government Railway Police launched a swift probe after the complaint and traced the child to the village, where he was recovered safely late at night.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full motive behind the staged abduction.
