Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer (Dam Safety), Bhubaneswar in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case on Thursday. He will be produced today before the Court of the Special Vigilance Judge, Cuttack.
According to the Vigilance, searches conducted at multiple properties linked to Mohanty revealed possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. These include one palatial multi-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, one farmhouse with a double-storeyed building spanning approximately 4,000 sq ft on 1.71 acres of land, eight plots, bank deposits exceeding Rs 1.81 crore, cash amounting to Rs 6.23 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 350 grams and two four-wheelers apart from other movable and immovable properties, which he could not explain satisfactorily.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance Police Station Case No. 15/2026 has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
Investigation into the case is continuing.
