Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Cabinet has approved the construction of a 2×500 MVA, 400/220/33 kV GIS sub-station at Basudevpur in Keonjhar district, along with associated transmission lines, to meet the growing power demand in the region.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 1,647 crore, will be implemented by OPTCL and cater to upcoming industries in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts. The project includes 30% equity support from the Odisha government (Rs 494.10 crore) and 70% funding through banks and financial institutions (Rs 1,152.90 crore).
It will strengthen the transmission network, support industrialization, and meet power requirements in the mineral-rich Joda-Barbil-Palaspanga belt.
The project is expected to be completed over three years (FY 2026-27 to FY 2028-29) and will benefit industries in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
