Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik travelled to Delhi on the same flight as Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, with both seated next to each other.
The two leaders, who have been political opponents in the past — Pitambar Acharya had contested against Naveen Patnaik in the 2019 Assembly elections from Hinjili — were seen engaged in a lively and cordial conversation during the journey. Photos from the flight show them discussing various matters with great enthusiasm and warmth, setting aside their political differences for the duration of the trip.
After landing, Pitambar Acharya shared the moment on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“It was a great pleasure sharing some beautiful moments with former Odisha Chief Minister & Leader of the opposition Sri @Naveen_Odisha ji while travelling to New Delhi. Discussed on many issues of Odisha’s interest with him.”
Acharya later stated that he had a long and fruitful discussion with Naveen Patnaik on matters concerning the interest of the state.
Meanwhile, Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Delhi is purely personal. He has gone to meet his elder brother, Prem Patnaik, who is recovering in a private hospital in the national capital after undergoing heart surgery. Senior BJD leader Debi Mishra confirmed that Naveen Patnaik will spend a few days with his family during his brother’s recovery.
The unexpected friendly interaction between the former Chief Minister and the Advocate General has sparked interest across political circles, highlighting that personal courtesy and concern for the state can transcend political rivalries.
