Rourkela: President Droupadi Murmu will make her maiden visit to Rourkela on April 21. During her five-hour stay in the Steel City, she will inaugurate multiple development projects worth a total of Rs 158 crore.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram shared the details of the President’s visit while addressing a press conference at the BJP district office in Sundargarh.
According to Minister Oram, the President will fly from New Delhi and land at Jharsuguda Airport. She will then travel by helicopter and reach Rourkela around 11:10 am. She is scheduled to depart at 4:00 pm the same day. During her brief stay, President Murmu will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control Centre constructed near Panposh Hockey Chowk at a cost of Rs 48 crore. In the same premises, she will also inaugurate the Tribal Museum built at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore.
Later, the President will inaugurate the Science Park and Planetarium at BSNL Square in Chhend Colony, which has been developed with an investment of Rs 27 crore. She will also dedicate the Recreational Park in Koelnagar, constructed at a cost of Rs 45 crore.
As part of her visit, President Murmu will address a large public gathering at the Sector-13 Melon Padia ground. More than 10,000 school and college students from across Sundargarh district are expected to attend the event. Over 35 cultural troupes will present a variety of traditional and folk performances on this occasion.
The inaugurations are likely to give a significant boost to education, tourism, and the preservation of tribal culture in the region.
