Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha continued to reel under intense heat on Monday, with multiple districts recording temperatures close to or above 40°C, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.

Titlagarh emerged as the hottest place in the state at 41.0°C, followed by Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Balangir, each recording around 40.4°C. Baripada and Bhawanipatna also reported high temperatures of 38.4°C and 40.4°C, respectively.

The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3°C, while Cuttack registered 35.8°C. Coastal areas such as Puri (33.6°C), Gopalpur (32.2°C), and Paradip (32.0°C) experienced relatively lower temperatures compared to the western and interior districts.

Western Odisha districts continued to bear the brunt of the heatwave-like conditions, with Sundargarh (39.0°C), Talcher (39.5°C), and Sonepur (40.1°C) reporting significantly high day temperatures. Meanwhile, interior pockets like Malkangiri (39.2°C) and Angul (40.1°C) also witnessed scorching conditions.

Night temperatures remained on the higher side as well, with minimum temperatures hovering between 20°C and 27°C across districts. Titlagarh recorded one of the highest minimum temperatures at 27.5°C, indicating warm nights.

Humidity levels varied across the state, with coastal and southern regions experiencing higher relative humidity, contributing to discomfort despite comparatively lower temperatures.

Notably, the bulletin indicated no rainfall activity across all monitored stations in the past 24 hours, suggesting dry weather conditions prevailing across Odisha.

The IMD is expected to continue monitoring the situation as heat conditions persist, particularly in western and interior districts.
