Bhubaneswar: The second National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be held on May 9 across all trial and divisional court premises in Khordha district.
In this regard, Salomi Sahu, Secretary of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority, Bhubaneswar, has informed that the Lok Adalat will facilitate amicable settlement of a wide spectrum of pending cases. These include compoundable criminal cases, plea bargaining matters, cheque bounce cases, debt recovery disputes, motor accident claims, traffic challans, labour disputes, public utility services, electricity and water disputes, matrimonial and family disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition matters, employment and pension-related cases, revenue disputes, intellectual property (IP) cases, consumer disputes, as well as other civil and criminal cases pending before various district and sub-divisional courts.
The initiative will also allow the public to directly file cases that are not pending in any court. Such matters include loan recovery disputes, succession cases, traffic challans (including virtual court/e-challan cases), labour and employment disputes, electricity and water-related issues, revenue and land acquisition matters, public utility disputes before Permanent Lok Adalats, matrimonial disputes, mediation and settlement of marital and domestic violence cases, commercial disputes, arbitration matters, tenant disputes, and other land-related conflicts. These cases can be submitted through the District Legal Services Authority or Taluk Legal Services Committees.
The District Legal Services Authority has urged the public to submit their cases well in advance to ensure timely resolution during the Lok Adalat. It further encouraged citizens to take advantage of the opportunity, highlighting that proceedings in Lok Adalats are free of cost and the decisions rendered are final and binding.
