Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will construct a new high-level bridge over the Kathajodi river on the upstream side of the existing Subash Chandra Bose Setu to provide a direct link between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
The proposed bridge is set to become a prime connection between the twin cities and is expected to ease traffic congestion on NH-16, the key corridor linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Officials said the project has gained significance as the road from Bhubaneswar Airport to Nandankanan Zoological Park is also under proposal for 8-laning. The new bridge, along with the widened road, will ensure faster and direct connectivity to Cuttack city.
The State Cabinet has approved the lowest turnkey bid submitted by M/s SPS Construction India Pvt Ltd for the project. The bid amount is Rs 158,88,90,305 (Rupees One Hundred Fifty-eight Crore Eighty-eight Lakh Ninety Thousand Three Hundred Five), excluding GST. The work is targeted for completion within 36 calendar months.
