Muniguda (Rayagada): A man accused of killing his elder brother in Rayagada district was arrested on Friday and produced in court on Saturday, police said.
The accused, identified as Adu Jakasika, had been absconding after allegedly murdering his elder brother, Gulta Jakasika, in the Niyamgiri hill region under Muniguda police limits. He was apprehended from the Kalyansingpur area following a police search operation.
According to police, the incident took place last Wednesday at Garatha, a Dongaria village under Munikhola Gram Panchayat. Adu Jakasika allegedly attacked his elder brother with an axe, leading to his death on the spot. He fled the scene soon after the incident.
Acting on the direction of SDPO Santoshini Oram, Muniguda Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Efforts were intensified to trace the accused, leading to his arrest on Friday.
IIC of Muniguda Police Station Keshab Sadangi confirmed the arrest and said further investigation is underway.
