Bhubaneswar: In a tragic and distressing incident, a woman lost her life after being attacked by a wild elephant in Sansailo village under Valia panchayat in Dhenkanal district.
The deceased has been identified as Gitanjali Sahu, a resident of the village. According to preliminary reports, Sahu had gone to the nearby forest area early in the morning to collect mangoes when the elephant suddenly emerged and attacked her. The assault was severe, and she succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
The incident has sparked fear and panic among the villagers, with many expressing concerns over the rising instances of human-elephant conflict in the region. Locals have strongly demanded that the Forest Department take immediate and effective measures, including better monitoring and preventive actions, to avoid recurrence of such tragic events.
