Fake B.Ed Admission Racket Busted In Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police on Sunday busted a fake B.Ed admission racket and arrested two persons, including a woman, for allegedly duping students on the promise of securing admissions in colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The accused have been identified as Chittaranjan Barik and Reema Das. Police said the duo lured students from Odisha by assuring them easy admission into B.Ed colleges through informal arrangements and collected commissions ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 from each victim.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gundala Reddy Raghavendra said a case has been registered at the Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station.

“We have arrested two persons so far and are verifying the number of victims involved. Further investigation is underway,” he said while briefing the media.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused used the names of institutions such as Seven Hills B.Ed College and Ramakrishna B.Ed College in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh as part of their modus operandi. They allegedly misled students by promising hassle-free admissions and used forged documents to gain their trust.

Police suspect that more people may be involved in the racket, and efforts are underway to trace the other accused. The police are also trying to identify additional victims who may have been cheated.

In a post on X, Jharsuguda police advised students and guardians to verify the authenticity of educational institutions before making any payments. They also urged victims of such fraud to come forward and report the matter.
