Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday welcomed the decision to establish a new railway division at Rayagada, stating that it will come into operation from June 1 and serve as a major boost for the development of southern Odisha.
In a post on social media platform X, Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening rail infrastructure in the region.
The Chief Minister said the new division is expected to enhance regional connectivity, unlock tourism potential, improve revenue generation, and accelerate inclusive and sustainable growth. He added that the development would help advance Odisha’s broader goal of emerging as a key contributor to India’s growth story.
Majhi described the decision as a reflection of the strength of “double-engine governance,” stating that it fulfills a long-standing demand of the people of southern Odisha.
He further said the initiative would play an important role in ensuring balanced development across the southern part of the state while aligning with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Calling it a landmark development, the Chief Minister termed the announcement a defining milestone in Odisha’s growth journey and its contribution to national progress.
