Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Thursday extended a solemn tribute to the Indian Armed Forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, describing the mission as a ‘sacred covenant’ to protect the nation.
In a statement posted on social media, the Deputy CM highlighted the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of the forces involved in the operation.
“As we commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, I offer a solemn salute to the indomitable courage, discipline, and sacrifice that defined this mission. It was far more than an operation — it was a sacred covenant to protect our people, uphold the dignity of service, and reaffirm our nation’s collective resolve against adversity,” Singh Deo said.
He further added that over the past year, Operation Sindoor has become a shining example of resilience and unity, emphasizing that true strength lies in the spirit and honour of those who serve the nation.
“Today, we cherish their valor, we celebrate their legacy, and we renew our pledge to walk the path they illuminated — with integrity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to our Matrubhoomi,” the Deputy CM stated.
It is pertinent to mention that Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7 last year in response to a major terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The precision strikes targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, marking a significant demonstration of India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. The message from the Odisha Deputy CM reflects the widespread sentiments across the country as India observes the anniversary of this landmark military operation.
