Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and moderate rain in 10 Odisha districts in next three hours.
According to the warning issued at 1:20 pm on May 8, thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Nuapada districts.
The IMD has advised people in these districts to remain alert and keep a close watch on the weather. Citizens have been urged to move to safer locations if conditions worsen and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
