Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a nowcast yellow warning for Bhubaneswar and several districts of Odisha, forecasting thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty surface winds within the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm with lightning and winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar city.
Apart from Khordha, the warning has also been issued for Puri, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, and Anugul districts.
The weather office advised people to remain alert and keep a close watch on changing weather conditions. Residents have been urged to move to safer places during thunderstorm activity to protect themselves from possible lightning strikes.
The nowcast warning was issued at 4:10 PM by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
