Rayagada: In a dramatic incident, a drunk youth climbed a mobile tower and threatened to jump in Kalyansingpur town of Rayagada district on Monday morning.
The youth has been identified as Trilochan Kashi, a resident of Kumbharsahi in Kalyansingpur.
According to reports, Trilochan consumed alcohol and climbed the mobile tower early this morning. When local residents urged him to come down, he refused and threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the tower. The situation led to a tense standoff that lasted nearly two hours, causing panic and chaos in the area.
Despite repeated requests and persuasion by locals, Trilochan refused to descend. Finally, police and the fire services department were informed. A team from the fire brigade successfully rescued the youth from the tower.
Meanwhile, Trilochan has been detained at Kalyansingpur police station for questioning. Police are investigating the matter to determine the full circumstances that led to the incident.
