Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday extended greetings on the completion of 75 years of the historic reconstruction of the Shri Somnath Temple, describing it as a living symbol of India’s cultural nationalism and civilizational pride.
In a message shared on social media platform X, CM Majhi stated that today marks a proud and historic day for the entire nation. He highlighted that the grand Somnath Temple stands as a testimony to centuries of struggle, unwavering faith, and ultimate cultural triumph.
The Chief Minister noted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is observing ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ — a celebration signifying India’s cultural resurgence and self-respect. “From the sacred land of Odisha, the land of unparalleled harmony between Hari and Hara, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all on this auspicious occasion,” Majhi said.
The reconstruction of the Somnath Temple was initiated after independence and the temple was inaugurated on May 11, 1951, by then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The 75th anniversary is being observed across the country as ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’.
