Puri: The inventorisation and counting of valuables stored in the Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple which resumed today will continue for a total of nine days in May as per a decision taken by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today.
According to officials, the inventory exercise will be carried out on May 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29 and 30 apart from today and tomorrow, the process has been scheduled for nine days during the month.
The inventorisation of the Ratna Bhandar — the treasury of the 12th-century shrine — resumed after nearly five decades. The process involves counting and documenting ornaments, valuables and ritual materials preserved inside different chambers of the treasury.
Officials said the counting and inventory of the Chalanti Bhandar, where ornaments used for daily rituals are stored, and the Bahara Bhandar, which houses ornaments and materials used during various religious ceremonies, have already been completed.
Following this, the inventorisation of the Bhitara (inner) Ratna Bhandar began on April 14 this year. However, before the commencement of the annual Chandan Yatra festival, only around 20 per cent of the valuables and materials inside the inner treasury could be inventoried.
The remaining inventorisation work is now set to continue on the newly scheduled dates under the supervision of the temple administration.
