Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Tuesday paid tribute to Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi on his birth anniversary, with Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Surama Padhy leading the floral homage ceremony in the capital.
The Speaker offered floral tributes to the statue of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi located near the Odisha Assembly premises and remembered his invaluable contribution to Odia literature and spiritual thought.
Speaking on the occasion, Surama Padhy said Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi remains a guiding light for Odias through his humanistic philosophy and literary works. Quoting his well-known verse, “Praninka arata duhkha apramita, dekhu dekhu keba sahu, Mo jeevana pachhe narke padithau, jagata uddhara heu,” she said the poet’s teachings continue to inspire millions across generations.
She added that Bhima Bhoi’s ideals of compassion and sacrifice remain deeply relevant in contemporary society.
The Speaker further stated that she paid her deepest respects to the saint-poet on his birth anniversary.
On the same occasion, Odisha Language, Literature & Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Odisha Legislative Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout, and Deputy Director of the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture Devjani Bhuyan were also present and offered floral tributes to Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi.
