Patna: Following the cancellation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2026, investigations into the alleged paper leak have intensified across the country.

In a major development, a team from the Intelligence Bureau, assisted by local police, conducted a raid at the boys’ hostel of Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital in Pawapuri, Nalanda district, on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Intelligence Bureau team raided Room No. 502, allegedly linked to Ujjwal Kumar, also known as Raja Babu, who is suspected to be a key member of a solver gang involved in the paper leak.

The team also searched Room No. 110, occupied by Avdhesh Kumar.

Officials reportedly broke open the lock to gain entry and conduct a thorough search.

Despite the high-profile raid, officials have not issued any formal statement regarding the findings.

However, the operation has created panic and curiosity among students residing in the hostel.

So far, seven individuals, including Avdhesh Kumar, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The alleged mastermind, Ujjwal Kumar alias Raja Babu, remains absconding, with police and Intelligence Bureau teams conducting continuous raids to track him down.

Investigators are also questioning Dr Md Zaki Jama regarding possible links and institutional oversight.

A staff member, Ashwani Kumar, said, “We were deployed to assist the Intelligence Bureau team during the investigation. Both rooms were searched, but nothing incriminating was recovered. The solver gang linked to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test paper leak has connections to Pawapuri Medical College.”

The case reportedly came to light recently when the Nalanda Police received a tip-off during routine vehicle-checking operations.

Subsequent investigations led to the uncovering of the alleged cheating network.

Authorities have seized laptops and mobile phones from the arrested individuals, which have provided crucial leads into the gang’s modus operandi.

In the wake of the scandal, the National Testing Agency has cancelled the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2026 examination, which was originally conducted on May 3.

Revised examination dates are expected to be announced soon.
