Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday once again reviewed the prevailing law and order situation in the state and directed senior officials to adopt a proactive and coordinated approach to control crime.

The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, senior officers, District Collectors, and Superintendents of Police (SPs).While addressing the officers, CM Majhi emphasized that the state police must take decisive steps that not only win the trust of the common people but also create fear among criminals.

He directed officials to take strict proactive action against criminal elements within the framework of law to minimize the possibility of crimes occurring.

Majhi stressed the importance of seamless coordination between district administration and police, saying that local administrative officers can play a vital role in assisting the police in tackling criminal activities.

“Administrative officers and police must work as a team at the district level. The same team spirit being shown in the successful implementation of various government schemes should also be maintained in the field of crime control,” he added.

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for comprehensive crime mapping, regular data collection, and strengthened intelligence gathering. He advised police personnel to build friendly relations with the public so that people come forward with information, which would help in taking preemptive action.CM Majhi also directed officials to further tighten the police patrolling system across the state. “A robust and visible patrolling network will create fear among criminals and instil confidence among the general public,” he said.

He instructed District Collectors and SPs to regularly review the law and order situation in their respective districts and submit periodic reports to the DGP, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), and Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary has been directed to keep the Chief Minister updated on developments from all districts.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma briefed the district officials on implementing the Chief Minister’s directives. DGP Y.B.
