Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has hiked fares for private buses operating across the state following the recent rise in oil prices. The new fares have come into effect immediately.
According to the official notification, ordinary bus fare has been increased from 88 paise per km to 90 paise per km. Express bus fare has been raised from 92 paise per km to 94 paise per km.
Deluxe bus fare has gone up from Rs 1.27 per km to Rs 1.31 per km. AC Deluxe fare has been increased from Rs 1.55 per km to Rs 1.59 per km, while Super Premium bus fare has been hiked by 6 paise to Rs 2.47 per km.
The government said the revision was necessary to offset the rising operational costs of private bus operators due to higher fuel prices. Officials added that the increase has been kept minimal to reduce the burden on passengers.
