Police Reshuffle

Patna: Amid a renewed push to strengthen governance, the Bihar government under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has carried out another major reshuffle in the police administration.

Following the recent transfer of 16 IPS officers, the Home Department on Friday transferred 61 DSP-rank officers and two IPS officers, signalling a continued focus on improving law and order in the state.

According to the official notification, several Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) have been reassigned, with many officers posted to sensitive and strategic units such as the Cyber Crime Wing, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Vigilance Unit.

These postings are being viewed as a deliberate move to enhance efficiency, accountability and response capability in tackling emerging security challenges, particularly cybercrime and organised crime.

Nurul Haque has been shifted from the post of SDPO, Bihar Sharif, and posted as Assistant Director General of Police (Inspection), Patna.

Pankaj Kumar, posted in Kahalgaon of Bhagalpur district, has been appointed Superintendent of Police in the Special Vigilance Unit, Patna.

Another officer named Pankaj Kumar, who was serving in Sadar subdivision of Begusarai district, has been posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Raghunath Singh has been transferred from the Special Branch to the Cyber Crime Unit.

Raghav Dayal, who was serving as SDPO in Jaynagar, has been posted as DSP in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Patna.

Abhijeet Kumar Singh, posted in Sadar subdivision of Katihar district, has been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police in the Crime and Security Unit, Patna.

Sunil Kumar Singh, who was serving in Rajgir, has been transferred to the Cyber Crime and Security Unit.

Kalyan Anand, who was posted in Kahalgaon, has been appointed DSP (Cyber Crime) in Saharsa.

IPS officer Garima has been transferred from Saraiya in Muzaffarpur district and appointed SDPO, Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district, while IPS officer Saket Kumar has been shifted from Tarapur in Munger district to SDPO, Sadar Bihar Sharif.

The large-scale reshuffle reflects a strategic administrative exercise aimed at strengthening critical policing units, improving coordination between departments and deploying experienced officers in high-priority areas.

The transfers are also intended to improve the police response mechanism in dealing with cybercrime and organised criminal activities.

The continued reshuffle underlines the state government’s intent to maintain strict oversight of law and order and ensure proactive, efficient and responsive policing in the face of emerging security challenges.
