Puri: A worker was killed after a wall collapsed at an under-construction lodge on Chakratirtha Road in Puri on Saturday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Papu, a resident of Jagatsinghpur district.
According to reports, construction work was underway at Durga Lodge near Chakratirtha Road when a wall of the structure suddenly collapsed, trapping the worker under the debris.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The worker was later recovered from the rubble and sent to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The Odisha Fire and Emergency Service assisted in the recovery operation.
Police said the Marine Police Station has started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the collapse.
