Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania has issued a stern warning to criminals, stating that there is no place for them in the state.
He said those thinking of committing crimes should be prepared for encounters like the recent ones in Berhampur and Sambalpur.
The DGP made it clear that the Odisha Police have launched a massive statewide operation against anti-social elements. In just the last five days, more than 1,700 Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) drives have been conducted across the state.
National Security Act (NSA) has been imposed against six people and more than 50 criminals have been arrested. Jail returnees are also being kept under strict surveillance based on intelligence inputs. DGP Khurania added that Superintendents of Police (SPs) of every district are personally working at the ground level to improve the law and order situation.
The aggressive measures signal a strong zero-tolerance approach by the Odisha Police towards crime.
