Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature in Odisha, touching a scorching 41.6°C at 11:30 am on Monday. The western Odisha town saw a sharp rise in temperature compared to 38°C recorded at the same time yesterday.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several other parts of the state also witnessed intense heat. Sambalpur recorded 39°C, Hirakud 38.6°C, Balasore 38.2°C, and Bhubaneswar 36.4°C at 11:30 am.
The soaring day temperatures have caused considerable discomfort to people, especially in western and coastal Odisha districts. The IMD has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to continue in many parts of the state till May 20.
