Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday congratulated Congress leader V D Satheesan after he was sworn in as the chief minister of Kerala following the UDF’s emphatic victory in the Assembly elections.
Extending his wishes to the newly elected chief minister, Patnaik said he hoped Kerala would scale new heights of development under Satheesan’s leadership. Taking to social media platform X, the BJD president wrote, “Congratulate Shri @vdsatheesan ji on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of #Kerala. I wish, under your leadership the state reaches new heights of development. Best wishes.”
Satheesan, who led the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) back to power in Kerala after a decade, took oath as the 24th chief minister of the state along with his 20-member Cabinet at a grand ceremony attended by senior political leaders and dignitaries.
The UDF registered a decisive victory in the Kerala Assembly polls, defeating the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), which had been in power for two consecutive terms.
