‘Shaktishree’ Mobile Application

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education Department has directed all state public universities and government as well as aided colleges to adopt and promote the newly launched “Shaktishree” mobile application, aimed at strengthening student safety and support services across campuses.

In a directive issued by Director of Higher Education Kaliprasanna Mahapatra, the institutions have been asked to ensure widespread awareness and active onboarding of students on the digital platform. The initiative seeks to enhance student safety mechanisms, counselling access, grievance redressal systems, and overall student well-being in higher educational institutions across the state.

According to the official circular, the “Shaktishree” application has been developed as a comprehensive student-centric digital platform. It offers features such as SOS emergency assistance, safety check-in options, access to institutional announcements, counselling support services, and a structured mechanism for addressing student grievances in real time.

The department has instructed that all eligible students under its jurisdiction be encouraged to download and register on the application. Institutions have been directed to take proactive measures to ensure maximum enrolment and engagement with the platform.

To facilitate awareness, college principals and registrars have been advised to use multiple communication channels, including classroom announcements, orientation programmes, official notices, and institutional WhatsApp groups.

The Higher Education Department has further urged all institutions to implement the directive on a priority basis to ensure effective adoption of the application across Odisha’s higher education ecosystem.
