Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Bibhuti Bhusan Sahoo, Male Health Worker (MHW) at Haladia Community Health Centre (CHC) in Khordha district, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000.
According to reports, the complainant had applied to the Sub-Collector, Khordha, for issuance of death certificates of his deceased parents. The Sub-Collector had directed the Registrar, Birth & Death-cum-Medical Officer of Haladia CHC to issue the certificates. However, Sahoo allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 from the complainant and refused to process the file unless the amount was paid.
Left with no option, the harassed complainant approached the Odisha Vigilance with a complaint.
Acting on the information, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Sahoo red-handed while accepting the bribe money. The entire tainted amount of Rs 1,000 was recovered from his possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to the accused to probe his disproportionate assets (DA).
A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
