Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a young army aspirant drowned in a pond near a private Army Training Centre at College Square in Soro in Balasore district.
The deceased has been identified as Bholanath Ojha, a resident of Basudevpur area in Bhadrak district.
He had enrolled at a private military training centre located near Soro College Square to prepare for recruitment into the Indian Army. He went to the nearby Khemeswar Mahadev pond to learn swimming, but unfortunately drowned in the water.
After being informed, Soro police and fire service personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly one hour of intensive searching, his body was recovered from the pond.
He was immediately rushed to Soro Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter to ascertain the exact cause of the drowning.
