Bhubaneswar: In a significant disciplinary action, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) has placed Inspector Sandhyarani Jena, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Talchua Marine Police Station in Kendrapara district, under immediate suspension.
An official order issued by the Police Headquarters states that a disciplinary proceeding is contemplated against Inspector Jena for gross misconduct and dereliction of duty. The order reads: “And whereas, it is considered expedient in the interest of public service. I therefore in exercise of power conferred vide Rule 840 of PMR-1940 place Inspector Sandhyarani Jena, IIC, Talchua Marine PS of Kendrapara district under suspension with immediate effect.”
During the period of suspension, Inspector Jena will remain under the disciplinary control of the Inspector General of Police, CR, Cuttack. She will be entitled to draw subsistence allowance and dearness allowance as admissible under Rule 90 of the Odisha Service Code.
The action is seen as a strong message from the state police leadership against any laxity or misconduct by officers, especially those holding key field positions like station IICs. Talchua Marine Police Station falls under the coastal jurisdiction of Kendrapara district and handles sensitive marine and coastal security responsibilities.
