Bhubaneswar: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will begin across Odisha from tomorrow, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state, RS Gopalan.
Addressing a press conference, the CEO said the process will continue till June 28. So far, mapping of more than 3 crore voters has been completed in the state. During the process, around 17% logical errors have been detected.
Gopalan stated that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every household from tomorrow to carry out the revision. Each voter will be provided with two forms. One copy should be kept by the voter and the other submitted to the concerned BLO. If there are any errors in a voter’s name, father’s name, date of birth, address, or photograph, the BLO will assist in correcting them on the spot.
Besides, voters can also download the forms from the official Election Commission website (voters.eci.gov.in), fill them up, and upload them online. BLOs will provide full assistance to voters facing any difficulty in filling the forms.
The CEO further informed that non-Indian citizens will be directly deleted from the electoral rolls. BLOs will visit 3,33,99,591 households and work with the support of 31,026 Booth Level Agents. BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits in the morning and remain available at their respective booths every day from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Voters whose mapping is complete are requested to provide their photograph and signature during the BLO’s visit.
