Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Friday inaugurated the state police museum at the 1st Manipur Rifles (MR) complex here.

The Chief Minister was briefed by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh and Commanding Officer (CO) of 1st Manipur Rifles, Khoisnam Sarma Devi, about the antique weapons displayed at the museum, many of which were used during the Second World War.

The museum also showcases old archived photographs of the Manipur Police and very high frequency (VHF) radio transceivers used by the police force during the late 1990s.

Later, Singh visited the Manipur Police Headquarters located at Mantripukhri and inaugurated a crèche room situated on the ground floor of the complex. He was also introduced to various rooms and facilities at the headquarters, including the DGP’s office located on the first floor.

Subsequently, a meeting with senior police officials was held in the conference room. Following the meeting, the Chief Minister inspected various facilities available on the fifth floor of the Police Headquarters, including a gymnasium, auditorium hall, conference room Block‑B, aerobic and yoga room, and the officers’ lounge.

The Chief Minister also formally inaugurated another crèche room located on the ground floor of the Police Headquarters.

Later, Singh, in a post on his X handle, said the modern police complex would strengthen administrative efficiency, security coordination and policing operations across the state. He added that the government remained committed to further strengthening the Manipur Police Department.

In another post, the Chief Minister said the museum preserves the rich history, legacy and evolution of the Manipur Police through rare artefacts, historical records, photographs and uniforms. He described it as a proud milestone in safeguarding policing heritage for future generations.

He said the state government remained steadfast in its commitment to strengthening the Manipur Police Department and equipping it with the infrastructure and resources necessary to effectively serve and protect the people.
