Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to Odisha’s women-led agribusiness initiatives, a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) from Mayurbhanj district has exported 9.5 quintals of premium Amrapali mangoes to London, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to connect rural producers with global markets.
The export was facilitated by Swayang Sampurna FPO, which operates in the Jashipur-Karanjia region of Mayurbhanj. The organisation was promoted under the APC Programme and is supported by the Department of Mission Shakti.
The consignment is expected to pave the way for increased international demand for Odisha’s horticultural produce and strengthen market access for women-led collectives.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today congratulated the members of the FPO and described the export as a landmark achievement for the state.
“From the orchards of Mayurbhanj to international markets, Odisha’s women entrepreneurs are creating new milestones. The export of premium Amrapali mangoes to London by Swayang Sampurna FPO under the APC Programme is a testament to the strength of our women-led collectives, value-added agriculture, and growing global market linkages. The Government remains committed to empowering women, enhancing rural livelihoods, and taking Odisha’s produce to the world,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
