Bhubaneswar: A 45-year-old woman died in a road accident at Lekhapathar Square under Sohela police station limits on Tuesday morning, while her 15-year-old son survived with minor injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Pinki Mahapatra of Dangaghat village. Police said the accident occurred around 6 am when Pinki was riding a scooty to Bargarh with her son.
According to reports, her two-wheeler collided with a boring vehicle that was moving towards Tabada from the opposite direction at Lekhapathar Square. Pinki, who was coming from the Padmapur side, fell on the road after the impact. Locals and police rushed her to Sohela Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her son escaped with minor injuries and is out of danger.
Sohela police have seized the body for post-mortem and impounded both the boring vehicle and the scooty.
