Keonjhar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday attended the funeral of his cousin, Dinabandhu Majhi, at their ancestral village of Raikala in Keonjhar district, where the last rites were performed in accordance with Santali traditions.
Dinabandhu Majhi, son of the Chief Minister’s elder uncle, passed away late Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Following his death, his mortal remains were taken to Raikala, the family’s native village, for the final rites.
The funeral ceremony drew family members, relatives, villagers and local residents, who gathered to pay their respects to the deceased and offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Chief Minister Majhi joined other family members in performing the customary rituals and paid his final respects during the solemn ceremony. The rites were conducted following traditional Santali customs, reflecting the community’s cultural practices.
The atmosphere in the village remained sombre as mourners came together to bid farewell to Dinabandhu Majhi.
