Sundargarh: Police seized around 90 kg of ganja and arrested two persons from Uttar Pradesh after a chase near Karamdihi Bagbandha under Sadar police station limits on Wednesday night.
The operation was launched after Sundargarh Sadar police received input from a reliable source. The information was passed to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), who acted on the direction of the Sundargarh Superintend of Police (SP) and led the team.
As per reports, police intercepted a car that was allegedly smuggling the contraband. The vehicle was chased and stopped near Karamdihi. On searching the car, police recovered approximately 90 kg of ganja. The car was found bearing a fake Bhubaneswar registration number plate. Two occupants of the vehicle, both natives of Uttar Pradesh, were taken into custody.
Preliminary investigation suggests the consignment was being smuggled to Uttar Pradesh.
Further probe is on to trace the source and identify others linked to the network.
