Bhubaneswar: As the BJP government completed two years in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday termed June 4 a ‘revolutionary and glorious day’ in the state’s political history.

The BJP ended the BJD’s 24-year rule after the 2024 elections, with results declared on June 4. The party formed its first government in Odisha with Mohan Charan Majhi taking oath as Chief Minister on June 12, 2024.

The day marks the second anniversary of the 2024 Assembly election results that brought the BJP to power in the state.

In a public message addressed to residents, the Chief Minister said the people’s “historic and clear mandate” two years ago not only formed a “powerful government” but also broke “long-standing stagnation” and laid a “strong foundation for building a transparent, prosperous, and progressive Odisha.”

Referring to the Centre-State partnership, he said, “Inspired by the ideals of service, good governance, and welfare of the poor of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, double-engine government has initiated a new era of development in Odisha through the coordination of the Center and the State in the past two years.”

The message added that the state government has been working with ‘full commitment’ towards all-round development of citizens, with priority to administrative transparency, accountability, and public welfare.

The Chief Minister said the ‘unwavering faith and trust’ of the people has made the government’s resolve ‘firmer and stronger’ to make Odisha a leading state through service and development.

He called for collective participation in what he termed the ‘great yajna’ of building a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ along with ‘Developed India’ to take the state to the pinnacle of prosperity.

“Dear Odisha Residents, today, June 4th, is a revolutionary and glorious day in Odisha’s political history. Two years ago on this day, you took the resolve for change and gave a historic and clear mandate in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Your sacred mandate not only formed a powerful government but also shattered long-standing stagnation, laying the strong foundation for building a transparent, prosperous, and progressive Odisha. Inspired by the ideals of service, good governance, and welfare of the poor of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, our double-engine government has initiated a new era of development in Odisha through the coordination of the Center and the State in the past two years. Our government, prioritizing administrative transparency, accountability, and public welfare, is working with full commitment towards the all-round development of citizens of every class in the state”, read CM Majhi’s post on his X handle.

He further wrote: “Your unwavering faith and trust have made our resolve even firmer and stronger. We are continuously moving forward in the direction of building Odisha as a leading state in the country through service and development. Let us all come together and join this great yajna of forming a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ along with ‘Developed India’ to take our beloved Odisha to the pinnacle of prosperity.”
