Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the passing of renowned Odia litterateur and former IAS officer Dr Jagannath Prasad Das.
In a condolence message posted on his official X handle, CM Majhi stated: “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of eminent litterateur Dr Jagannath Prasad Das. He was not only a distinguished writer of high calibre, but also a highly competent officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He served the people with dedication in various important positions in the Odisha Government and the Government of India. Das, who left an indelible mark of creativity in every branch of literature, has left behind an irreparable loss to the world of literature. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the eternal peace of his immortal soul.”
It is pertinent to mention that Das passed away at his Bhubaneswar residence on Wednesday night at the age of 90. He was widely respected as a multifaceted personality — a celebrated poet, playwright, novelist, painter, and art historian.
