Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt greetings and felicitations to the people of the state and called for collective efforts to protect nature and combat climate change.

In his message, the Chief Minister highlighted this year’s theme — ‘Inspired By Nature. For Climate. For Our Future” — and emphasized that protecting the environment is not just about conservation but is deeply linked to climate action, economic progress, social security, and the well-being of future generations.

“Odisha is rich in natural resources, biodiversity, and traditional environmental knowledge. We can achieve the goal of sustainable development only through the protection and proper management of our natural resources,” CM Majhi said.

He noted that agriculture, water, and climate change are major global challenges today, affecting resources, health, livelihoods, and social systems.

Referring to this year’s campaign #NowForClimate, he urged people to adopt climate-friendly lifestyles, promote a green economy, and reduce carbon footprint.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Odisha government is fully committed to green development, renewable energy, climate-resilient infrastructure, environmental protection, and people’s participation to build a healthy and prosperous Odisha.

He appealed to all sections of society to take a pledge on World Environment Day to actively participate in tree plantation and protection, elimination of single-use plastic, proper use of water and natural resources, and conservation of forests and wildlife.

“Let us turn the protection of nature and biodiversity into a mass movement. Together, we will build a green, prosperous, climate-resilient, and pollution-free Odisha,” the Chief Minister added.

“Green Odisha, Prosperous Odisha – Foundation for Sustainable Development”, he concluded.
