SIR Drive Gains Momentum In Odisha, Reaches 43% Voters In First Week

Bhubaneswar:  Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Odisha aimed at ensuring a transparent, updated and error-free electoral roll has made significant progress within a week of its launch, with enumeration forms reaching more than 43 per cent of the state’s electorate.

According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), enumeration forms have been distributed to and collected from 1,45,18,212 voters as of Friday evening, accounting for 43.47 per cent of Odisha’s total 3,33,99,591 registered electors.

The exercise, launched following the issuance of SIR guidelines on May 30, is progressing rapidly and officials expressed confidence that the distribution and collection of forms would be completed well before the June 28 deadline.

To implement the programme across the state, 45,255 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed. The officials are conducting door-to-door visits in urban centres, rural areas, tribal pockets and other remote locations to distribute forms and collect voter details.

As part of the process, each voter is being provided with two pre-printed enumeration forms. After completion, one copy is retained by the BLO, while the second is returned to the voter with the officer’s signature as an acknowledgement receipt. Authorities have advised voters to preserve the signed copy for future reference.

District administrations have intensified awareness activities to ensure maximum participation in the revision exercise. Awareness chariots are travelling through villages in several districts, while urban outreach efforts include microphone announcements, hoardings, LED displays and social media campaigns targeting younger voters.

Election authorities clarified that no additional documents are being collected from electors as part of the enumeration process, making the exercise simpler and more accessible. Voters also have the option of downloading the form from the Election Commission’s voter services portal, filling it out and uploading it online.

To strengthen coordination and transparency, 33,026 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) nominated by various political parties are assisting BLOs at the grassroots level.

Officials said the Election Department and district administrations are working in close coordination to ensure that every eligible voter in Odisha is covered under the Special Intensive Revision programme and that no elector is left out of the process.
